TV shows conserve water even for rain sequences
Monsoon is finally here and Punekars couldn’t be happier. While the first rain does bring back romantic and cherished moments, the current drought situation has weaved a completely different tale for rains. However, Hindi TV shows have been using rain as an interesting plot to garner attention from viewers.
From rain hugs to dance sequences, this weather calls for some exciting telly moments.
The only twist this year is that actors and production houses are careful about the water used for these scenes. Pune Times spoke to television actors on their views of rain sequences being shot in the wake of the drought situation in the state.
Shoot in natural rain Shiv (Rishi Saxena) from Kahe Diya Pardes, a Marathi show, shot a special romantic rain song recently. He shares, “I have always wanted to shoot a romantic track in the rains and the makers of the show have made this possible. We used natural rains to ensure we weren’t wasting water.”
Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi also had a special rain sequence with mushy moments between the lead pair. Actor Erica Fernandes says, “I am never up for rain sequences because nothing can beat the excitement and thrill of natural rain. Usage of water tankers for such sequences should be avoided considering the drought situation in our state. One cannot take natural resources for granted just to entertain viewers.” Erica added that the right thing to do is cut down on water usage.
Actor Harshita Gaur shares that her show Sadda Haq had two rain sequences, both of which were shot in natural rains. “Recycled water can also be looked at as an option. Using clean and fresh water for a shoot is not a great idea. Natural rain can work wonders for a shoot.”
However, Ridhima begs to differ. She says, “Recycled water can cause infections or rashes owing to the quality of the water. Ideally, such sequences should be shot with sharpness and precision to avoid water wastage.”
